About me
Beatrice Deer is an acclaimed “Inuindie” pop artist from Quaqtaq, Nunavik, now based in Montreal. Singing in Inuktitut, English, and French, her music blends indie rock, folk, Inuit storytelling, and throat singing. She has released seven albums, including Little Songs, a revitalization of traditional Inuit children’s songs. A celebrated performer across Canada and internationally, Beatrice has appeared at venues and festivals from the Venice Biennale to Norway’s Førde Festival. Her career includes multiple honours, including a Canadian Folk Music Award, Indigenous Music Awards, the Prism Prize, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal. In 2022, she performed for Pope Francis during his visit to Canada. Beyond music, Beatrice is a mental health advocate, interpreter, and artist whose work continues to inspire communities across Inuit Nunangat and beyond.
